Spotify is testing a new video channel. He was inspired by TikTok

Music streaming service Spotify may soon expand its application with a new video channel that is inspired by the service TikTok. According to the portal GSMArena is currently testing it.

The news was successfully revealed in the beta version of Spotify

Chris Messina was the first to notice the news, informing about it on his Twitter account and describing it as a limited version of TikTok-style videos. Specifically, it was discovered in a test version of TestFlight, which is a beta version of Spotify for the iOS platform. The demo videos he posted on Twitter show that a new icon has been added at the bottom of the application.

When you click on this icon, the video channel will appear immediately. As shown, this stream appears to contain short videos that are displayed by default when playing selected songs. Users will be able to scroll through the videos vertically and like them by clicking on the heart icon. The new feature should be part of the Discover channel.

It is not yet certain whether the novelty will also appear in the stable version of the application

Portal TechCrunch Spotify had already asked about the new feature, but the company was quite brief in answering it. She admitted that it was a test to see if the concept had any value. This means that the new feature may not get into the stable version of the application at all. However, if the users who are included in the test program like it, we will definitely meet it again.

This is not the first time Spotify has been inspired by competition. Earlier this year, he released the Greenroom app, which is a direct competitor to the popular Clubhouse service. It is basically a live form of podcasts that listeners can participate in. In January, Spotify even tested an equivalent of Instagram Stories.
