Spotify gets special integration with BeReal, that’s how it works
It will be possible to connect your Spotify and BeReal account. This allows BeReal users – as soon as the BeReal notification appears out of the blue – to instantly capture and record what they are listening to on Spotify.

Spotify and BeReal
BeReal is a social media app that sends you notifications to take a photo. These notifications appear at random times during the day and after you have received such a notification you have two minutes to take a photo. The purpose of this is to capture ‘real’ moments, aka BeReal (be real). The app wants to ensure that people photograph spontaneous moments. Really what they are doing at that moment, so not a thought-out scene with beautifully set up backgrounds and filters. Furthermore, BeReal only presents the photos of your friends, and only the photos you have taken on the day in question. All photos on BeReal are shot with both the selfie and main camera of your smartphone.
As of today, you can now also capture and/or record the podcast or song you are listening to in BeReal in a number of countries. Spotify will let you know in a message. Among other things, they say the following:

BeReal is designed to capture authentic moments in your daily life and share them with your friends. Combining audio from Spotify with BeReal adds an extra connection and experience.
Roadmap
Below we explain in a step-by-step plan how you can link your Spotify and BeReal account. Please note: this is not yet possible in the Netherlands, but it is possible in countries such as Canada, Australia and the United States. Other markets should follow soon.
- Connect your BeReal and Spotify accounts. To do this, go to the BeReal app Institutions and then go to Music. Then follow the directions. A separate music icon should also appear in BeReal later.
- Once your accounts are linked, Spotify will automatically pick up the song or podcast you’re currently listening to when it’s BeReal time again. When you take the photo, you will then see the cover design of the relevant single or album.
- If other friends have turned it on, you can also see what music they’ve been listening to.
