With the Pixel Watch, Google has launched its first smartwatch. The watch is designed to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Apple Watch 8. Now a very interesting detail has become known. Google doesn’t have to pay much for the smartwatch itself.

Google Pixel Watch: This is how much it costs to produce

It’s always interesting to see what manufacturers pay for their hardware. In the current case counterpoint made the individual parts of the Pixel Watch with LTE (test) and calculated what the hardware itself costs. So must Pay Google about 115 euros for it. While the display is often the most expensive part of smartphones, with the Pixel Watch it is the computing unit with memory at 26.9 percent. Only then does the display follow with 17.2 percent. The case with the waterproof properties and thermal treatment comes in at 14.7 percent.

Sensors, battery, the radio module and so on cover the rest of the costs. This results in a decent margin for Google, because the company charged 379 euros for the WiFi model at the launch of the Pixel Watch, while this one was dismantled LTE model comes to 429 euros. The watch is now a little cheaper (check it out on Amazon).

Not included in the costs shown by Counterpoint are those for research and development. Analysts can’t really know them, so such information is always limited to the hardware.

Google is expanding the functionality of the Pixel Watch

Google not only provides the Pixel Watch with regular monthly updates, as we know it from smartphones, but also expands the range of functions. A new addition is fall detection, which works intelligently and should not trigger incorrect emergency calls. However, the function is not yet active in Germany.
