Soon nothing will work without a Microsoft account
Microsoft is changing the tone of Windows installation. Users are urged to get a Microsoft account. A locally set up Windows account will no longer be sufficient in the future. Depending on the Windows 11 version, Microsoft turns a blind eye.
Windows 11: Compulsion to the Microsoft account is coming
If you installed Windows in the past, you could still choose whether you only want to set up a local account or an account with Microsoft. But that should soon be over, as Microsoft itself has confirmed. With some versions of Windows 11, it will no longer be sufficient to log in with a local account.
It starts with the Pro version of Windows 11. With Windows Insider, Microsoft’s beta program, users have to do the initial setup in any case, a Microsoft account and have an internet connection. According to Microsoft, the regulation first applies when users “set up the operating system for personal use”. The Enterprise versions of Windows 11 are therefore excluded.
