Sony Xperia T from 2012

Sony Ericsson ceased to exist in 2012 and the brand name changed to Sony. We still know the Xperia line today. In 2012, Sony released the Xperia T, a smartphone with Android. What can we tell about this high-end phone?

Sony Xperia T.

We have already covered several Xperias in our section ‘The forgotten smartphone’. This Sunday it is time for the Xperia T, which was released in 2012. The smartphone was able to distinguish itself by its design and build quality. The device managed to plunge into the segment with dual-core processors, with the Sony Xperia T equipped with a Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset with a computing power of up to 1.5 GHz. In addition, the Xperia T was assisted by 1GB of RAM and there was 16GB of storage space, which could be expanded with a memory card. The design was somewhat like the Xperia Arc, with its curved back.

Maybe the Xperia T doesn’t mean 1.2.3 to you that much, but it could just be that you’ve seen it. The smartphone manufacturer managed to return the phone in the James Bond Skyfall movie. There was also a special edition on the market, the so-called Bond Edition. It featured backgrounds, themes, videos and tunes from the Bond film. Interesting about the device was that the Sony Xperia T was the first device from the manufacturer without buttons on the front. With the Xperia S, we saw on-screen keys for the home screen, multitasking and go back.

Sony provided the Xperia T with a 4.55 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In addition, there was a 13 megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.3 megapixel camera in front. While Jelly Bean was already out, the Xperia came with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with an update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean later on the device. With the device we saw a battery capacity that we can no longer imagine in a smartphone; 1850 mAh. In practice, the battery was not exactly great.

The Sony Xperia T was released in a market where there was a lot of competition. Think of the HTC One X with quad-core chipset, Samsung Galaxy S III and LG Optimus G. The Xperia T, which appeared in white and black, came on the market for around 475 euros.

Sony Xperia T summarized in 3 points:

  • Had role in James Bond movie
  • 4.55 inch screen
  • Dual-core processor
