Sony is concrete for the first time: When will the PlayStation 6 come?
It’s hard to believe, but the PlayStation 5 has been on the market for two years. Though many don’t even have the console yet, others are wondering what about next-gen. Sony has now revealed when you can expect a PlayStation 6.
PlayStation 6: Release takes a few more years
The PlayStation 5 has already received a new version that not only saves you weight, but also power. Furthermore, it can be assumed that Sony will launch a Pro version in the coming years. Nevertheless, fans are wondering what a PlayStation 6 could offer everything – it will take a while before this question is answered.
The British supervisory authority CMA (Competition Markets Authority), which is currently investigating the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, has released new information to the public Documents made available for viewing. These contain interesting information about Sony’s plans (source: British authorities).
Microsoft has therefore offered the games from Activision until 2027 to be made available for the PlayStation. In October, Microsoft said it would only offer Call of Duty on the PlayStation “as long as it makes sense”. The year 2027 is then mentioned, which, according to the document, would be completely insufficient for Sony.
“If SIE launches the next generation of its PlayStation console (which is likely to be XXXX), the company would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles, leaving it extremely vulnerable to consumer switching and engagement concomitant deterioration in its competitiveness.”
So it could be that the new Sony generation in the year 2027 or 2028 appears, seven or eight years after the release of the PlayStation 5.
The PlayStation 5 had a few exclusive games to offer right from the start:
