You can take Sonos Roam with you everywhere
The Sonos Roam is the latest addition to the Sonos range and specially designed for people who want to listen to music everywhere. The Roam can be connected to your Sonos system via WiFi at home and automatically switches to Bluetooth when you go out the door. The speaker weighs less than 450 grams, so you can easily take it with you wherever you go. You can place the Roam vertically so that it takes up hardly any space or place it horizontally for extra stability on uneven surfaces outside the door. Sonos wants to make the Roam on a portable smart speaker with a premium appearance accessible to everyone.
Sound Swap is a new feature and, by holding down the play / pause button on the speaker, lets you switch the music to the closest speaker in your Sonos system at home. This way you can easily move the music from one room to another.
In addition, with the Sonos app you can connect all Sonos speakers with Roam when streaming via Bluetooth. In this way, bluetooth streaming is also possible for the rest of the system.
Great sound in every room
The Sonos Roam comes with automatic Trueplay tuning, a feature we know from the larger Sonos Move. With this, the Roam is always adjusted for the best listening experience in any environment. So you can place the Sonos speaker wherever you want, because the device automatically ensures that the sound in the stair cupboard sounds just as good as in the living room. Sonos uses microphones for Trueplay that pick up the reverberation of sound in a room.
The Sonos Move can automatically adjust the sound to the environment with automatic Trueplay via a Wi-Fi connection. The Sonos Roam also makes this possible when streaming via bluetooth. This capability is also coming to the Move.
Stream music for hours by the pool
Thanks to the IP67 certificate, the Sonos Roam can spend 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter in the water. A splash in the pool should therefore not be a problem. The silicone end caps protect against drops and bumps and the touch buttons are positioned in such a way that you do not accidentally press them while on the move.
The Roam can last for 10 hours on one charge. In addition, the battery will last for 10 days if the speaker is not used. The speaker goes into Sleep mode when the music stops, and wakes up in less than a second. You charge the Roam with the included USB-C cable. Wireless charging is also possible. This is possible via the Qi charger that can be purchased separately.
Smart and environmentally friendly
The Sonos Roam can be operated with the Google Assistant. So you can easily play music with a voice command, start a television program, operate smart home devices, and receive updates such as calendar appointments and traffic information. More options with the Google Assistant on Sonos devices can be found here.
Sonos has also ensured that the packaging of the Roam leaves a small footprint. This is made from 100% sustainably produced paper with a new design that limits the use of ink.
