Sonos Announces Era 100 and 300 Speakers; replacement for Sonos One

When you think of smart speakers, you quickly think of the Sonos brand. The audio brand has now released two new speakers with which you can enjoy your music. They are the Era 100 and the Era 300. Both new models with new possibilities, but where something has to be missed.

Sonos Era 100 and 300

The Sonos portfolio has been expanded with the Sonos Era 100 and the Era 300. To start with, the Sonos Era 100. This model will replace the Sonos One and features a similar design with minor changes. The two tweeters and a larger midwoofer provide the stereo sound. In addition, you can also link it with multiple copies and you can have it work together with a soundbar for even better sound quality.

It is striking that Sonos (for now) says goodbye to the integration of the Google Assistant. A reason for this is not mentioned. Sonos and Google have been at odds over patents for years. It is not known whether this is also the cause of the lack of the Assistant. The Sonos Era 100 is made from recycled plastic and should also be easier to repair. From March 28, the device will be in stores for a price that is 50 euros higher than its predecessor; 279 euros.

The second new device is the Sonos Era 300. A home cinema can be provided with sound with this speaker through, for example, Dolby Atmos, Sonos Arc and Beam. You can calibrate the speaker for a specific room using the Trueplay app. The speaker must offer everything for spatial audio. There are six powerful drivers with which the sound can be sent in all directions. The acoustic architecture is packaged in the shape of an hourglass. The Sonos Era 300 can produce multi-channel surround sound and has collaborated with the community of leading artists and creators to make music sound the way the artist intended, according to the manufacturer.

The Sonos Era 300 will be available from March 28, with a price tag of 499 euros. Good to know is that the Google Assistant integration is also missing here.
