‘Sometimes it seems like I have a teenage daughter’
Actress Liza Sips can say she is in d‘Squeezing hands with daughter Charlize: she is always cheerful, rarely nags, is very kind to her brother and very funny.
“I sometimes jokingly call her my bundle of joy.”
“Yeah, fart”
Liza is regularly in a tear around her four-year-old toddler. “Sometimes I really wonder where she got that humor from. Now she’s in such a hilarious phase again. Everything is ‘darling’ or ‘fart’. ‘That is okay honey. Yes, fart, no dear!’ Like I have a teenage daughter.”
Challenge
Still, having such an eccentric girl can sometimes be a challenge. “She has a spirited character and knows exactly what she wants. For example, I really can’t just wear everything I like on her. She likes to have something beautiful in her hair and loves skirts with felt, but she can also be very cool with an oversized sweater.”
Be yourself
And whether it matches or not, this creativity in her daughter continues to stimulate Liza. “As a mother, I think it’s very important to let people know that you can always be yourself,” she says. “Are you a tomboy and like cool things? Fine. But if you want to walk in the unicorn prints, that’s fine too.”
Open vision
Thanks to her dolls, Charlize can completely lose her egg, says Liza. “You can go as crazy as you want with the sheer amount of outfits. And she does, because sometimes she prefers to put them on all over each other. ‘Beautiful!’ I say to her, hoping I can show her that everyone is allowed to be there – don’t judge that. Fortunately, this is still very natural for my children, but I will do everything I can to ensure that they keep this open vision forever.”
