So you can still get to the office and to the university

Nothing works in Germany on Monday: public transport is paralyzed during the nationwide warning strike by the trade unions ver.di and EVG. The massive impairments in bus and train traffic can also be avoided without your own car.

Mega strike: Germany stands still

On Monday, March 27, 2023 Parts of public transport are almost at a standstill. The trade unions ver.di and EVG have called for a nationwide warning strike in the fight for higher wages. This will affect the regional and long-distance traffic of Deutsche Bahn, but also local public transport in some federal states. Buses and trams remain in the depots.

So that employees can still come to work without their own car, worth a block on alternatives. Students can also use it to get to the university, just like pupils to school.

As one E-scooters are a possible alternative. Depending on how far away your job or university is, switching to e-scooters can be worthwhile. The best-known and largest providers in Germany include Lime, Tier, Voi and Bird.

Just like Lime, you can also rent a bike through Tier:

There are more e-scooters at Voi:

It’s also worth taking a look at Bird:

Public transport alternative: Uber and car sharing

If the e-scooter is not enough, you can switched to taxis or Uber become. Here you have to pay more for the journey, but depending on the weather conditions and distance to the destination, the change can be worthwhile. Alternatively, local car sharing offers can be used. If possible, a reservation should be made as early as possible.

Together with work colleagues can of course also Carpooling organized become. These are often worthwhile even if Germany is not paralyzed by strikes.

In the event of a strike: get on the e-bike

The mega strike can also be avoided with your own bicycle or e-bike. There is a similar problem here as with e-scooters if it rains cats and dogs. At least you can by bike also covered longer distances become. With an e-bike, the possibilities increase accordingly.

This e-bike from Acer comes with AI support:

Acer ebii: e-bike with AI and anti-theft protection

If no e-bike is available yet, it might be worth taking a look at one of these two offers. The Aldi online shop has just that R6 Neo V2 electric mountain bike from the manufacturer Sachsenrad on offer. For a reduced price of 999 euros there is an e-bike that offers a maximum range of 150 km and has a removable 500 Wh battery (take a look at Aldi).

At the discounter Netto it is even cheaper at 849.99 euros. Here it is foldable e-bike F820 from Telefunken ready. Depending on driving style, the maximum range is given as 45 km, the battery has an output of 270 Wh (look at net).

Is correct: The e-bikes should no longer be delivered until the strike on Monday. The collective bargaining dispute should (unfortunately) still be with us for a while. So it says: Prepare for the next strike!
