Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be officially unveiled at the end of October

Qualcomm has announced when the successor to its latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will be unveiled. That will take place on October 24, 25 or 26, when Qualcomm hosts a major event.

In short, chances are that it will be on October 24, because usually these kinds of big announcements are made at the beginning of the events during a big keynote. After all, you can then talk to others about the unveiling for the rest of the event. But what does the announcement of such a new chip mean?

We don’t know anything else about the chip yet, but it will undoubtedly run faster and help gadget makers keep their tech running like a charm. The world of chips is all about performance. Qualcomm has already earned its spurs with this: many Android phones have a heart in the shape of a Snapdragon chip. Think of Samsung devices (although some variants have an Exynos chip), but many Chinese phone makers such as Xiaomi and OnePlus also work with chip maker Qualcomm.

There is something remarkable about this announcement. Qualcomm is much earlier than usual with the announcement. The Gen 2 was announced in November and the Gen 1 in November, with the 888 even in December. Could it be because a certain phone supplier wants to go live soon after with its device with that chip in it (Xiaomi 14 Pro, maybe?), or is it just that for Qualcomm? We don’t have an answer to that yet, but the Snapdragon Summit is in any case scheduled for October 24-26 in beautiful Maui, Hawaii.

We are very curious which phone manufacturer gets the scoop. We might think Xiaomi because of the rumors surrounding that 14 Pro, but for the same money it’s OnePlus or Motorola. Those were the first manufacturers to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Which manufacturer do you think will be the lucky one? Leave it now in the comments.
