Sky Receiver: search and sort channels

If you have a pay TV subscription to Sky, you can bring the content from your subscription package to the TV screen via the Sky Q receiver. Depending on the package selected, hundreds of channels can quickly accumulate. So that you don’t lose track, you can organize your favorites and sort the channel list on the Sky receiver.

When setting up for the first time, you should start a channel search. This ensures that you have included all currently available channels in your list.

This is how you can search for channels on the Sky-Q receiver

To start a channel search, proceed as follows:

  1. Press the “menu“ button on the remote control.
  2. In the main menu you choose the Ideas out of.
  3. Here you call it “Service menu on.
  4. In this point you will find the option to Start the search.
  5. Once started, the receiver searches for radio and TV stations. So that all channels are found, you should activate the options “All providers” and “Replace all channels”.
  6. You should be patient for about half an hour for the search.

Sky Receiver: sort channels – favorites and all channels

After the successful search, you can now sort your programs on the Sky receiver. Channels 1-99 are also your favorites. So sort your favorite stations into the first 99 places using “Add favourites”. To sort the channels on the Sky-Q receiver, proceed as follows:

  1. To do this, press the “menu“-Button.

  4. Above “Edit” you can now add the stations from the left list to the favorites list via the remote control button “OK” and the button “Add”.

  7. With “Add station“ you can place a station between the 1st and 99th position in the station list.

If you want to start with a completely empty favorites list, under “Manage favorites” select the option “Create new list“.

Sky: Start EPG update

If you want to start the Sky EPG update, proceed as follows:

  1. Press the “Menu” button on the Sky receiver remote control.
  2. Controls the “Service menu”.
  3. Here you will find the option “EPG update”.
  4. With “OK” you can select “Update now”.
  5. You can also set a time for the automatic EPG update here. The Sky receiver must be in standby mode, so ideally you should select a time at night or at a time when you are not watching TV.

Sky: EPG update hangs or takes forever?

The update takes a few minutes. In rare cases, the Sky EPG update may take a long time or hang. If you still see the message “Channel list is being updated” after a few hours, you can do the following:

  1. Checks whether the firmware on the Sky receiver is up to date and updates it if necessary to avoid update conflicts.
  2. If the EPG update does not work, completely disconnect the receiver from the power supply and wait a few minutes.
  3. After a restart you carry out the update again.
  4. Also check if all cables are plugged into the receiver correctly. If necessary, complete this before the update and reconnect it to the receiver.
  5. If the EPG update cannot be successfully completed even then, there may be an error with the receiver. If you have persistent problems, you should not hesitate to contact the Sky hotline.
