Skoda makes a big promise to e-car customers

Anyone who buys or leases an e-car looks forward to the environmental bonus. At least until 2023, because then there will be significantly less money. Skoda now wants to make sure that buyers of electric cars do not have to do without the subsidy. If you want to get the bonus from Skoda, you have to consider a few things.

Collect the environmental bonus from Skoda: This is how it will work in 2023

Skoda wants to take over the environmental bonus for e-car customers if the state no longer pays the previous amount in the coming year. From January 1st, the subsidies will decrease in a first step for purely electric cars, while plug-in hybrids will be completely excluded from the subsidies. Skoda does not accept the fact that customers may even go away empty-handed – at least under certain circumstances.

The Czech brand wants to pay the environmental bonus for pure electric cars (BEV) and for plug-in hybrids from its own resources if a delivery date for 2022 has already been promised but cannot be met: “For customers of a BEV or PHEV Model there is an offer in which the environmental bonus with a delivery date for 2022 confirmed by Skoda Auto Germany will be taken over in the amount valid for 2022″announced Peter Kühl, Head of Sales at Skoda Auto Germany (source: Automobilwoche via Electric Car News).

Lease an e-car and collect an environmental bonus

The aim is to give customers who are currently waiting for their new cars a new sense of security. According to Kühl, it is a “very customer-oriented solution” that is only offered by participating partner companies. The deadline can be even earlier: models that from December 1st are scheduled for delivery to the dealer can qualify for the environmental bonus at Skoda if the customers are no longer given an appointment for timely approval. Tesla does the same.

As customer-oriented as Skoda’s step may be, it is also intended to deter people from resigning: Due to inflation, many citizens are no longer as loose with their money as it was when they decided to buy a new car. So Skoda’s big promise to e-car buyers is not altruistic.

Other manufacturers, meanwhile, have begun to demand more money from customers afterwards. When inflation and long delivery times make a car more expensive to produce, BMW, Mercedes, VW and others beat it in certain circumstances their increased costs on the purchase price.
