More than just tomatoes and toilet paper: Lidl also regularly offers electronic devices for the smart home through its own Silvercrest brand. However, the appropriate app will no longer work in the future. The discounter is now calling on its customers to switch.

When you hear the name Silvercrest, the first thing you think of is Monsieur Cuisine – Lidl’s well-known Thermomix alternative, which is currently available again and costs almost 1,000 euros less than the original. But in addition to the smart food processor, Lidl also offers smart home products under the Silvercrest brand. So far, they have been running with the appropriate Silvercrest smart home app. That’s it 1.7.2023 but that’s it.

Silvercrest smart devices: App no ​​longer available from July 2023

From that point on, the Silvercrest smart home app no ​​longer available be. The further development of the app was even stopped at the end of November 2022 (source: Silvercrest). Users are asked to access the functionally equivalent to change the Homematic IP appto “continue to benefit from updates and continue to use the system,” says Silvercrest.

Practical: one Reinstallation is not necessary. In the Homematic IP app, the access point only has to be rescanned and confirmed by pressing a button. To do this, users should follow the instructions in the app. All installation data, devices and settings should then be available in the app.
