WhatsApp has been expanded with more and more functions in recent years. Some of the inspiration for this came from the competition, but Meta’s messenger also serves as a source. Signal will take over a popular feature from WhatsApp.

Signal gets story function

Many messengers and services have had a story or status function for a long time. Signal will soon be included. A rumor surfaced a few months ago that Signal would like to take over this feature. Now are up Reddit Screenshots have surfaced to confirm this. Signal is selling the feature as a new way to send photos, videos, and text. the Stories are of course end-to-end encrypted and users have full control over the content.

The stories can be divided into groups that you are in and everyone can react to them there. This is not possible with WhatsApp, for example. As with Instagram, a story or status is sent to all followers or contacts. The function to switch off the stories is practical. If you don’t feel like using the story function and don’t want to see stories from other people, you can simply disable the function completely. Some would certainly wish for WhatsApp as well. Creating a story is just as easy in Signal as it is in many other services. So you don’t have to change much here.

Signal is among the best WhatsApp alternatives:

Signal does not want to open

The EU wants messengers to be able to communicate with each other. For this, the messengers would have to open and share the encryption. Since each service has different fundamentals, that would be a major security issue. That’s why Signal wants to fight back. Many other messenger providers are also unlikely to have a great deal of interest in the expensively built users having to be shared.
