Kentucky Fried Chicken and Shell are attracting e-car drivers: Shell charging stations with a total of 120 DC charging points are to be set up at at least 23 branches of the fast-food chain in the coming year. Only green electricity is used here.

Charge e-cars with Shell at KFC

Shell and fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken join forces. This should be done in 2023 new charging stations will be installed at at least 23 branches. The companies have not explained which branches are involved. So far, only “KFC restaurants near the motorway” have been mentioned in this context.

More details have already been set for the planned performance: According to Shell, e-car drivers should be given a Power of up to 300 kW Tobe offered. It’s already about them second cooperation of this kind for Shell in Germany. Last November it was announced that Shell would like to supply around 400 Rewe and Penny branches with charging stations. Also in Austria there is an agreement between Shell and Rewe. In Hungary, they also want to provide 100 charging stations together with the supermarket chain Tesco.

Shell: 2.5 million charging points planned

By 2025, Shell would like to be responsible for 500,000 charging points worldwide and the number increase to 2.5 million by 2030. Ultimately, around 560 terawatt hours of electricity are to be sold per year. One wants to develop into a “clean Power-as-a-Service”.

In May 2021, Shell was legally obliged to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 45 percent by 2030 compared to 2019. According to environmental organizations, Shell is for the Responsible for annual emissions of 1.6 billion tons of CO₂. Shell had set itself the goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
