iPhone 14: Set Startup Sound
It is the first time that Apple allows the setting of a startup sound with the iPhone. Unfortunately, this is only possible with the iPhone 14 models. You will not only hear a start-up sound, but also when you close the iPhone, a kind of bell sound will sound.
The option for the start-up sound is not enabled by default and you have to set it yourself. You do this in the following way.
How to Set Startup Sound on iPhone 14
- Tap ‘Settings’;
- Scroll down and choose ‘Accessibility’;
- Under “Hearing,” tap “Audio/Visual”;
- Set the slider for ‘Sounds for turning on and off’ to green.
There’s a reason you can only set the startup sound on the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 has a special piece of memory (a boot-rom), which can only be read. The program code in this piece of memory can no longer be updated afterwards, so Apple cannot just add this function. This boot rom is loaded before the iOS operating system and therefore the sound is played when you see the Apple logo.
More about the iPhone 14
Apple has once again launched four iPhone models, with two cheaper and two more advanced versions. In place of the ‘mini’ there is now the iPhone 14 Plus, which has a 6.7-inch screen.
The Pro models have a number of features that the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus do not have. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, for example, have an always-on screen, a 48 megapixel camera and the notch has disappeared (which has been replaced by the Dynamic Island).
