Serious!? Godzilla and King Kong are coming to Call of Duty: Warzone
Crossover between gaming and other entertainments does occur, but the combo of Call of Duty, Godzilla and King Kong is remarkable.
Collaborations between gaming and other forms of entertainment are becoming more common. The same day it was announced that the Wu-Tang Clan is coming to Fortnite, Activision Blizzard confirmed a long-rumored crossover for Call of Duty: Warzone. Godzilla and King Kong will arrive in the Battle Royale on May 11.
Godzilla, King Kong in Call of Duty: Warzone
We know Warzone as a battle royale game, where 150 players fight against each other solo or in teams of two, three or four. This with the aim of being the last one standing and winning the game. The developer, of course, does everything to keep the game alive to please the players. They are now going to try that with this crossover. However, how is not yet fully known.
The event to launch this is called Operation Monarch. So it’s not entirely clear yet how exactly these movie monsters will fit into Warzone. However, a blog post notes that the event will introduce a new four-player Quads mode “based on several classic experiences with a giant twist.” Of course we know King Kong and Godzilla from several movies and apparently the developer thinks it will be a success to integrate them into the game.
Movies
Despite their militaristic vibes and attitudes, Warzone and the Call of Duty series in general aren’t exactly known for their hyper-realism. For example, they have had zombie modes for a long time. Still, this seems like an odd crossover, especially considering the Godzilla vs. Kong movie came out over a year ago.
