Segway GT2 e-scooter goes dangerously fast: up to 70 km/h

Reaching a top speed of 70 km/h on an electric step. With the Segway GT2 you can.

At most illegal in the Netherlands as a regular e-scooter, but perfectly normal on the other side of the pond. Segway-Ninebot has announced a series of new electric scooters (not a traditional scooter, but those scooters). The top model is the new Segway GT2.

The name sounds sporty and so is the model. According to Segway-Ninebot, the e-scooter reaches a speed of 48 km/h in just four seconds. The top speed is a maximum of 70 km/h. And that is particularly hard for an e-scooter. Hands on tight and be sure to wear a helmet and long pants and long sleeves. Because a fall can have serious consequences at such a high speed. You just have to dare.

Segway also realizes that in many countries they will be surprised by the new GT2. The company therefore says that you should be able to have fun with this scooter on, among other things, the circuit. But that sounds rather strange. Not everyone has a track in their backyard. And to go to Zandvoort with this..

The Segway GT2 is equipped with two electric motors, traction control to lose power and pneumatic tires for good grip. In addition, the thing is equipped with adjustable springs front and rear to be able to offer some form of driving comfort even at high speed. Also not surprising are the 900-lumen strong headlights so that bystanders can see you coming.

Segway says it will launch the GT2 by mid-year. A price has not yet been announced.
