Status messages are automatically deleted after 24 hours. In addition, they can be removed manually by the user beforehand. Expired status messages cannot be viewed again. If you want to save a corresponding contribution for later, you can create a screenshot of it. Status videos can be saved using a small detour. Other users do not get a notification when the screenshot is taken. That could possibly change with a future WhatsApp version.

If you only want to view the recording afterwards without the status text, you will find the picture in the gallery app. If you take a new photo directly via the status function, the recording will be saved in the photos or gallery app on your smartphone. You will then find it next to all other photos you have taken with the device in the past. However, the descriptive text from the status is not included there. This cannot be restored.
