Scammers hijack your account with an SMS
In times of online banking, bank customers have to be careful about where they enter their data. If you don’t pay attention to this, you run the risk of opening the door to your own account for criminals. A text message is currently going around that is exactly what they are aiming for. Sparkasse customers have to beware of a phishing attack: scammers have it again with their current scam aimed at access data for your online banking. To do this, text messages are sent that pretend to come directly from the Sparkasse.

Accordingly, in the current news stipulated that a so-called “pushTAN 2.0” procedure was switched over will. Customers should follow a link contained in the SMS to switch their account to it. Anyone who receives such a message should not click on the link. If you do, do not enter your data on the website stored there. The Savings Bank advises the same.
If you do, you risk that Fraudsters gain access to someone else’s account. In the worst case, they could empty it directly or buy it at your expense.

It’s not the first time that criminals have used such a scam to target Sparkasse customers. There have already been waves of phishing messages in which recipients are supposed to believe that their TAN procedure has expired. In this case it is new Wording “pushTAN 2.0”. If you registered too late that a message was phishing and provided your details, inform your bank as soon as possible about that. If the worst comes to the worst, you can take further steps there. If you have already lost money, also contact the police.
