Samsung is the world’s largest manufacturer when it comes to foldable phones. However, the prices are still very high, so that not many people have been able to bring themselves to buy a new device. That is exactly what is about to change.

Samsung will soon make folding cell phones significantly cheaper

While the upcoming folding phones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 will continue to be relatively expensive, Samsung will noticeably lower prices in 2024. As early as next year, Samsung is planning a folding cell phone that costs less than one million South Korean won (source: Naver). Converted that would be 735 euros. Incidentally, we are talking about the suggested retail price here and not the street prices that are demanded by a price drop after a few weeks on the market. Since the prices of Samsung hardware are falling very quickly, the foldable phones would become really affordable over time.

Samsung not only wants to build more high-end folding cell phones as we have known them so far, but also develop a foldable A-class mobile phone. This would then have a somewhat weaker configuration, but it is precisely these mid-range cell phones from Samsung that sell best. So people want affordable and good smartphones. A foldable A-class device would therefore be a potential bestseller, where Samsung would have absolutely no competition. Other manufacturers can’t keep up with Samsung when it comes to folding cell phones.

In this video we tell you what the current folding cell phones from Samsung are capable of:

Classic smartphones remain on offer

Samsung does not want to replace normal smartphones with the folding cell phones, but only expand the range. Foldable displays are now very robust and production is becoming cheaper and cheaper – as with any new technology. Of the the next step would be a rollable smartphone. This is exactly what Samsung has been working on for many years. This in turn would enable completely new ideas that have never existed before. The smartphone market is likely to develop very excitingly in the coming years.
