‘Samsung will launch Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 and Watch 4 on August 11’
Ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event this summer, Samsung held a software development event at MWC 2021, a teaser event for the Galaxy devices that Samsung may launch on August 11. The date of the event can be found on a (leaked) poster, along with the devices that Samsung is launching.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung’s ‘tradition’ for an Unpacked event in August will also continue this year, GSMArena writes based on an – according to them – official introduction poster of Unpacked. On the poster we find four hashtags that refer to the Galaxy hardware that Samsung is going to launch. It is of course striking that we will not see a Galaxy Note phone during the Unpacked event this year. Instead, Samsung is focusing on its foldable phones. A logical move for Samsung – the South Korean manufacturer aims to sell 7 million foldable phones this year, nearly three times the number of Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones it sold last year.
In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung is focusing on its Galaxy Watch 4 watch that runs on Wear OS and the updated Galaxy Buds 2. For the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8(+) and Samsung Galaxy S21 FE they will be launched at a later date. When? That will probably be announced later.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3
A successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will not be released until 2022. Until then, Samsung wants to offer its Note fans a similar experience by equipping its Galaxy Z Fold 3 with S Pen support. This makes the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 the second Galaxy phone from 2021 outside the Note range with S Pen support, the Galaxy S21 Ultra preceded the Z Fold 3. The phone is furthermore known that the cover display has a 6.23-inch diagonal and that the folding screen has a 7.55-inch diagonal. Samsung uses its AMOLED technology for both screens.
The screen on the inside of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is of course foldable, but the ‘magic’ doesn’t stop there. Samsung would have provided the screen with an under-display camera – as a result, the selfie camera disappears from view, because it can look through the screen. If this is correct, you can take 16 MP selfies through the screen with the Z Fold 3. If you use the cover screen, the 10 MP camera is visible through its hole-punch notch. Furthermore, Samsung’s Z Fold 3 is known to use 12 MP sensors on the back as the main, wide-angle and telephoto cameras.
Finally, under the hood we find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 12 GB of RAM. The same chipset can be found in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, this time with only 8 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also known that the folding screen has a 6.67-inch diagonal, while the cover screen with 1.9-inch is a lot smaller. Finally, the Z Flip 3 is known to contain a 3,300 mAh battery, the same capacity as on the original Galaxy Z Flip. Charging is wired with a maximum of 25 watts, or wireless with a maximum of 15 watts.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (Classic)
After some confusion about the existence of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4, the skies cleared this week and it was announced that the Active variant will be launched as the Galaxy Watch 4, while a successor to the regular Galaxy Watch 3 as the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is released. Samsung may release the Galaxy Watch 4 in 40mm and 44mm variants, while the Watch 4 Classic with three variants may appeal to a wider audience. There will probably be a choice of 42mm, 44mm and 46mm models.
With this generation, Samsung is switching to Wear OS for the first time, for which it presumably developed a new Exynos chip on its 5nm process. Details about the chip are still scarce – during Unpacked Samsung will probably go into detail about the specifications of the chipset. The South Korean company can also confirm or refute the leaked prices – which go up to 500 euros for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
Countdown to Galaxy Unpacked
We are already starting the countdown to Galaxy Unpacked in August. Of course, a new version of the Galaxy Buds should not be missing: the Galaxy Buds 2, which are very similar to the Buds Pro from Samsung.
