Samsung will give previously released devices 5 years of updates

Longer updates at Samsung

The update policy at Samsung is already one of the better, if we compare it with that of other manufacturers. Along with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Tab S8 series, the company has announced that these devices will receive security updates for a minimum period of 5 years. In addition, at least four Android OS updates will be made available for the models.

This update policy will also be applied for a number of previously released devices. In principle, the devices are updated monthly, but it may depend on the device whether this will still happen monthly after, for example, four years. Samsung also reports that it cannot be ruled out that updates will continue after five years.
