Samsung was again the market unit in the third quarter

South Korean giant Samsung was according to the portal GSMArena in the third quarter, the best-selling smartphone manufacturer on the market. The second is its long-standing competitor Apple with a very small lead over the Chinese Xiaomi.

The portal bases its claims on the statistics of the analytical company Canalys. According to her, 326 million smartphones were launched on the market from July to September, which is 6% less than a year ago. As many as 69.4 million of them belonged to Samsung, which means a 21% market share. Compared to the same period last year, however, it is a decrease of 13%.

On the other hand, the American company Apple in second place recorded a year-on-year increase of 14%. Its market share is 15% with 49.2 million smartphones sold. This is despite the fact that its new Apple iPhone 13 models were not on the market at that time. It can therefore be assumed that the fourth Thursday will be even more successful for Apple.

His Chinese competitors Oppo and vivo are catching up with Xiaomi

The third place is certainly pleased with the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, despite the fact that it decreased by one year year-on-year and recorded a decrease of 7%. It also has well-equipped models on the market under the separate brands Redmi and Poco. It sold 44 million smartphones in the third quarter, representing a 14% market share. And most importantly, it kept its distance from its Chinese competitors Oppo and vivo, which, however, significantly strengthened their market position.

Oppo recorded a year-on-year increase of 18% with 36.7 million smartphones in the market, which means an 11% share. The company has the same share in vivo with 34.2 million smartphones. Its year-on-year increase in sales was 8%. The remaining manufacturers supplied 91.9 million smartphones with a share of 28% and a year-on-year decrease of 20%.
