Samsung takes mobile gaming to unprecedented heights!
Samsung is planning to take mobile gaming to a new high with the next flagship.
Mobile gaming is becoming increasingly popular. More and more people are using their smartphone to play a game. That makes sense, because you always have your phone with you and the technology is getting better and better. And Samsung takes that a step further.
Samsung and mobile gaming
The AMD company plans to bring the architecture of RDNA 2 – used in high-end consoles such as the Xbox X and the PlayStation 5 – to phones. And that’s good news! This will make mobile gaming a lot more exciting. The CEO of the company is Lisa Su. She says her company is working with Samsung to integrate the RDNA 2 architecture into the Korean tech giant’s upcoming Exynos flagship mobile processor, found in phones like the Galaxy S21 series.
For us mobile gamers, this brings significant changes. Soon, we may be able to experience game-enhancing technologies such as ray tracing and variable rate shading (VRS). These were only available on gaming PCs and consoles until now.

That Ray tracing is a technique to make the reflection of light bouncing off objects in games appear realistic. Variable speed shading lets you play games at higher resolutions, such as 8K, with stable frame rates. Samsung intends to come up with more information about the processor this year.
The two companies -Samsung and AMD- have already entered into a partnership in 2019. This is to license the graphical IP address and integrate it into mobile chipsets. These chips could well become a competitor for Apple’s M1 chip. Laptops and tablets could also use Samsung’s new chips in the future. AMD had previously announced today that it was partnering with Tesla to place next-gen consoles in their cars.
