Samsung offers to configure Matter compatible objects with an app reserved for Galaxy

According to the SamMobile site, Samsung has formalized the launch of Matter Easy Pair, an application dedicated to mobile devices, smartphones and tablets, from the Korean brand’s Galaxy range.

Matter adoption is accelerating. Manufacturers of electronic devices, such as Amazon with its Echo series, constantly announce the compatibility of their products with the standard that promises to revolutionize our use of connected objects and our relationship to home automation.

Matter Easy Pair serves to further simplify the installation and configuration of connected household objects. The program is intended to replace “Nearby Device Scanning”, Samsung’s in-house pairing app that appears when a connected accessory, Galaxy Watch and other Galaxy Buds, is nearby. Disorienting users is out of the question; the Matter protocol is intended to make life easier for users and make them adopt home automation without pain. That’s why Matter Easy Pair adopts exactly the same user interface as Nearby Device Scanning.

The South Korean electronics giant’s app is based on Google’s Fast Pair feature. The Mountain View company announced in December 2022 the compatibility of its Nest and Google Home devices with the new connection standard. The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), the consortium responsible for the design and adoption of the new standard, brings together nearly 300 companies. Apple, Philips, Huawei, IKEA, Legrand, LG Electronics and Schneider Electric are so many big names in home automation and household appliances that should start to flood the market of compatible products.

Although only 200 compatible products are currently available, the economic stakes are enormous. Which manufacturer will manage to become the reference in the field of home automation? Samsung took advantage of CES 2023 to launch the SmartThings station, a home automation control solution designed to work with Galaxy devices.
