Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 get update: camera controller and more

Samsung has rolled out a new update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5. The two smartwatches get new camera functions, such as the new camera controller. However, there is one caveat to note about this update.

Camera update for Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5

Earlier, Samsung shared the news that a new update will be rolled out for the Watch 4 and Watch 5 models. This gives the smartwatches some useful camera functions that can be used on the Galaxy devices. New, for example, is the camera controller that you can use. This allows you to zoom in and out with the camera, for example, by bringing your fingers together on the screen of your watch, or by turning the bezel of the watch. Another feature is the “Connected Device Diagnosis” feature in the Samsung Members app. This allows you to immediately see whether the sensors and functions of your connected smartwatch are working properly.

The update will be available for all models in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series. However, you will not immediately benefit from the update. The new functions only work on certain devices with One UI 5.1 and newer. It concerns devices from the S series from the Galaxy S20 series and the Z models from the Z Flip. Incidentally, it is still waiting for the update to One UI 5.1. The update has not yet been released. When this will happen is also not yet known. It is clear that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series comes with One UI 5.1, so it may just be that we will see the update on the already released devices from February.
