Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series presented: All information and prices

With the Galaxy Tab S8 series, Samsung is introducing new tablets. All information and prices on the flagship tablets.

The Galaxy Tab S8 series follows 1.5 years after the S7 series (at the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra event), but recently there are three models.

Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: Large, thin flagship tablet with a notch

Samsung has largely avoided a notch so far, but with the new Tab S8 Ultra there just doesn’t seem to be a way around it. The huge 14.6″ display has a WQXGA+ resolution and supports AMOLED and a 120 Hertz refresh rate. There are two front cameras in the small notch, both with a resolution of 12 megapixels, with one of the lenses taking ultra-wide-angle shots. Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is equipped with 8, 12 or 16 gigabytes of RAM and 128, 256 or a maximum of 512 gigabytes of internal memory. The latter can be expanded to up to 1 terabyte using a microSD card. The battery is rated at 11200 mAh and can be charged with a maximum of 45 watts via quick charging. The cameras on the back have a resolution of 13 megapixels as the main sensor and 6 megapixels ultra wide angle and can also record videos in 4K at 30 frames per second. The device will be available in a WiFi and a 5G version. However, the highlight of the Samsung tablets is the S-Pen, which has been improved for the new tablets. Inputs are recognized in approx. 2 ms and should thus enable “paper-like” writing. Other accessories include an upgraded Book Cover Keyboard (with backlit keyboard) and a case. But these cost extra. The tablets run Android 12 with OneUI Tab 4.1 interface, Samsung promises 4 OS upgrades and 5-year security patches for the entire series. Galaxy Tab S8/+: The logical progression

With the Tab S8/+, the Koreans are also launching a successor to the Galaxy Tab S7 or the Plus version. The tablets come again in a smaller 11″ and in a 12.4″ version with a resolution of WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) or WQXGA+ (2,800 x 1,752). The Tab S8 has an LTPS display with 120 Hertz, while the Plus model gets an AMOLED display. Both models get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM and either 128 or 256 gigabytes of internal memory. This can be expanded using a microSD card. The fingerprint sensor is under the display on the Plus model and in the on/off button on the standard version. The tablets have identical cameras on the front and back. A 13-megapixel main sensor with a 6-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens is also used on the back. Instead of the two front cameras as in the Ultra model, the Tab S8/+ only has one of the 12-megapixel lenses, the wide-angle. The batteries are different with 8000 mAh and 10,090 mAh, but both charge with a maximum of 45 watts. Both tablets are available in a WiFi as well as in a 5G version. But they cost 50 euros extra.
