Samsung Galaxy S8 receives the update even after almost five years

The Samsung Galaxy S8 series models are no longer on the list of officially supported smartphones, but they are still receiving a new update with the November security patches. The novelty was brought by the Gizchina portal.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is not a forgotten phone yet

Users from France are announcing the arrival of the latest firmware version G95xFXXUCDUK1. Update reports from other countries are not yet available, but are expected to gradually reach other regions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t bring new features, but it does fix privacy and security system vulnerabilities.

You will be notified of the update via a notification directly on the device. You can also check its availability manually in the system settings in the Software update section.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 series was released in 2017 and has launched two very popular flagship smartphones. The base Galaxy S8 offers a 5.8 ″ display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus boasts a 6.2 ″ screen. Both are powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and batteries with a capacity not exceeding 3,500 mAh. During the performance, they ran on the Android 7 operating system and later also received Android 8 and Android 9.

How the competition updates

Nokia has updated this year’s X20 to Android 12. It is a middle class model, which is excellent but not surprising. Nokia has not released a real flagship for a few years.

LG, which no longer exists today, has updated its flagship LG Wing to Android 11. With LG officially gone, it’s better late than never.
