Samsung Galaxy S22 has met its match: this smartphone is faster
The new Samsung Galaxy S22 has been available since yesterday. However, the alleged muscle man from South Korea cannot claim the award for the fastest smartphone. You have no chance against Apple, because the iPhone 13 Pro remains unattainable.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is one of the first top novelties of 2022, it not only follows in the footsteps of the Galaxy S21, the top model Galaxy S22 Ultra also has to replace an entire smartphone series. After all, there is no longer a future for the popular Note series; instead, the new Ultra has to inspire customers β including the S Pen and huge 6.8-inch display.
iPhone 13 Pro vs. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Apple has the faster smartphone
But all models of the Galaxy S22 fail in one point – they are not faster than an iPhone presented six months ago, as current benchmark results now reveal (source: PCMag). Both the Galaxy S22+ and the Ultra version have to give in to the current iPhone 13 Pro. In the single, multi and machine learning score within Geekbench 5, as well as in other test environments, the Apple cell phone is quite a bit faster – around 35 percent, and the iPhone 13 Pro is even more than the score for machine learning twice as fast.
In short: The Apple A15 clearly shows the limits of the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Galaxy S22. But even Samsung’s own chip (Exynos 2200), which is used here in Europe instead of the Snapdragon, is probably not faster, and also only achieves values ββin the mid 3,000 range in the multi-core benchmark (source: MacRumors).
Replaces the Note series, offers a lot of extras, but it’s not faster than an iPhone 13 Pro:
Benchmark but probably no reason to buy
When it comes to pure performance, the Samsung Galaxy S22 has already found its master. However, buyers are unlikely to base their decisions on benchmark results. There are other reasons in the foreground. For example, the Galaxy S22 has a periscope camera with a 10x zoom. The Apple cell phone doesn’t even offer something like this for an extra charge. According to rumours, Apple could probably install such a camera construction in the iPhone in 2023 at the earliest, which means waiting at least 1.5 years and skipping the upcoming iPhone 14 in autumn 2022. Or grab the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra right now.
