Samsung Galaxy S10 series receives security update in July
Samsung is again faster than Google with the rollout of the latest security update. The July patch is now arriving in the Netherlands on the Galaxy S10 phones.
Samsung Galaxy S10 security update July
As usual, Google will release the new security update on the first Monday of the month, but Samsung has already started distributing it. It concerns the firmware versions G973FXXSBFUF3 for the Samsung Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10 Plus. It is not yet known which problems Samsung and Google will solve in the security update of July. Google will not roll out the update for its Pixel phones until Monday and Samsung has not released any details for this patch yet.
This firmware update is currently rolling out over-the-air to the Galaxy S10. The update should therefore appear in the notification bar, but you can also search for the update manually. This can be done via: Settings > Software update > Download and install. It is not yet known which Samsung devices will be next in line for the update, but the Galaxy S21 series will probably be one of the first to follow. Samsung also currently has the best update policy of all smartphone manufacturers. For example, the Galaxy S10 can count on new Android versions for three years and security updates for at least four years. The Galaxy S10 series has already received a version update to Android 10 and Android 11 can count on the Android 12 update this year. This week, the company announced that it will give high-end Enterprise smartphones even five years of security updates.
Other manufacturers are also paying more attention to the security of their phones. OPPO recently extended the security update deadline from two to three years. Google is still lagging behind with its Pixel phones. The search giant guarantees Android version updates for three years and security updates for at least three years.
Thanks for the tip, Tim!
