Samsung does not have great expectations of S21 sales
Samsung expects to sell 26 million copies of its Galaxy S21 phones this year. The S20 series also achieved such sales figures last year. Samsung seems to have rather mild expectations of the sale of its new top device.
Samsung Galaxy S21 sales
Samsung this month lifted the curtain of its new series of top devices: the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. The smartphones are back with a whole new design, an improved camera and processor, but also a lower price.
Still, according to sources from South Korean The Elec, Samsung does not have great expectations from the sale of its new flagships. The company wants to sell 26 million S21 devices, but those are no larger numbers compared to the S20 sales in S20. Those numbers were seen as rather disappointing last year. Samsung therefore has no higher expectations for 2021.
Influence of coronavirus
There are of course several factors that play a major role in this. The global COVID-19 outbreak means that shops in various parts of the world are closed and less frequented, and people are temporarily unemployed. Major purchases are more often postponed and that is particularly noticeable with the sale of premium phones.
Samsung has the highest expectations for the sale of the small S21 this year, because it must be good for 10 million smartphones sold, or 40 percent of the total. The S21 Plus and S21 Ultra each, in turn, account for 30 percent of expected sales.
