Behind the decline in smartphones shipped is a lack of chips
The statistics for the period from July to September were published by the analytical company Canalys. According to her, deliveries fell by 6% compared to the same period a year ago. The main reason is the lack of chips and other important components for smartphones due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to analysts, this problem will persist for another year.
Companies Samsung nevertheless, it managed to maintain its first place on the market and a 23% share of all deliveries. It was during this period that the South Korean giant released its folding smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, which, however, will form a smaller part of deliveries. The majority of this manufacturer’s sales are made up of lower and middle class models.
Apple continues to thrive, they also have reason to rejoice in China
The opposite is the case with society Apple, whose sales consist only of high – end smartphones. It ranks second and its market share was up to 15% in Q3 2021. This is a year-on-year increase of 3%. Only recently, the company launched Apple iPhone 13 smartphones, which should be the best-selling models on the market this quarter as well.
Chinese brand Xiaomi Although it fell to third place, its 14 percent market share is the same as a year ago. At the same time, Xiaomi dominated sales of 5G smartphones in Central and Eastern Europe. The fourth and fifth place belongs to other Chinese producers – Vivo and OPPO. They have the same share of 10%, which is 1% more than a year ago.
