Samsung could introduce a smartphone with a rotating camera
Samsung has been active in the last year and has brought a number of interesting devices to the market. After the introduction of the latest models from the Galaxy S series, the new smartphones from the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series are on the line.
As with other manufacturers, we can expect interesting design changes from Samsung in this year’s smartphones, which could come right away with the new Galaxy A smartphone.
Samsung can introduce a smartphone with a rotating camera from the Galaxy A model line
In mid-2019, Samsung launched its first rotating camera smartphone. More specifically, it was the Galaxy A80 model, which had a longitudinal camera module in the shape of a cylinder, which served as a selfie camera after the mechanism was extended. In the past, the Asus ZenFone 6 smartphone and also the ZenFone 7 model had a similar system.
However, Samsung has probably decided to continue this trend and improve it. According to information on the nl.letsgodigital.org portal, the company applied for a patent for a rotating camera and its mechanism in the middle of last year.
The camera module is cylindrical, as in the previous model. However, it is placed vertically and has three lenses. When the camera is turned on in selfie mode, the camera extends and rotates. However, only one camera is available in this mode. The other two are probably hidden behind the display and automatically deactivated.
The movement and rotation of the camera module is in charge of the motor, which moves with the whole mechanism along a kind of threaded rod. According to information on the nl.letsgodigital.org portal, the mechanism also contains a printed circuit board, which also moves when the module is ejected.
You can see how such a smartphone could look like in reality in the visualizations from Concept Creator below. It is also clear on them that in the case of selfie mode, only one camera is visible. However, the mechanism in the photos above seems to be able to extend the second camera as well. However, if this is not possible, it certainly has its constructional justification.
Unfortunately, Samsung has not confirmed the introduction of this smartphone. Therefore, it is questionable when and whether this smartphone will be launched on the market at all. If that happened, it could be the Samsung Galaxy A82.
