Roadmap Apple: this will be the future for the iPhone

Since the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple’s smartphone has received a screen with a variable refresh rate. Apple calls this “ProMotion,” and it automatically adjusts the screen refresh rate to match the content.

In the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), this screen has been further modified and the refresh rate can be reduced to even 1 Hz. This ensures that the battery in the iPhone can last even longer.

According to a report from the DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants), Apple will equip all iPhones with these screens in 2025, including the non-Pro models. This means that the regular iPhone 17 will also be able to use ProMotion and the always on screen.

But more will change in the future. Usually reliable Apple connoisseur Ross Young shows in a roadmap what will happen in the coming years with Apple’s Face ID, the notch (the black notch at the top of the screen) and the Dynamic Island.

According to him, the regular iPhones will get the Dynamic Island this year. After that, Face ID will be placed under the screen from 2027 and the Dynamic Island will make way for a camera hole.

According to Ross Young, the changes are faster with the Pro models. From 2025 they will receive Face ID under the screen and a small hole for the camera. Then in 2027 both Face ID and the camera will be placed under the screen.
