Riots: Emmanuel Macron makes a link with video games and social networks
Are the riots and urban violence affecting France following the death of Nahel in Nanterre related to video games and social networks? For Emmanuel Macron, the answer is yes.
This Friday, Emmanuel Macron said wait for a “spirit of responsibility” social networks, where are organized “violent gatherings” and which arouse “also a form of mimicry of violence, which leads the youngest to a form of leaving reality”. For the President of the Republic, “sometimes we have the feeling that some of them are living on the street from the video games that have intoxicated them”. We suspect that he is referring to games like Grand Theft Auto (GTA).
“We will take several measures in the coming hours (…) first in connection with these platforms”announced Emmanuel Macron.

A meeting between the government and the digital platforms was scheduled for late Friday afternoon to ask for their support, in particular for “identify social network users who participate in the commission of offences”the government announced.
