Ring turns your doorbell and camera into a virtual butler
Ring introduces Smart Responses for selected doorbells and cameras. With these smart responses, the Ring device can act as a virtual butler, play pre-recorded messages and alert intruders that they are being watched.
Ring greets visitors
If you have a Ring Video Doorbell Pro and are a Ring Protect subscriber, Alexa can now greet visitors when they ring the bell. Alexa asks how she can help, and based on the visitor’s response, she will offer to take a message or provide directions for package delivery.
You can set up Alexa Greetings in your Ring app. Once enabled, you can choose how long Alexa should wait to answer the door, and specify where parcel delivery should be left. And once Alexa has taken a message, you can view it in the Ring app.
Ring Quick Replies
Quick Replies is also a new feature that works on all Ring doorbells. You use this function when you cannot get to the door or do not feel like opening it. You can choose from a list of six preset responses, such as “We can’t reply now, but if you want to leave a message, you can do so now” or “Leave the package outside. If you’d like to leave a message, you can do so now. “If your visitor leaves a message, you can view it in real time with Live View. If you need more time to get to the front door, you can also choose from responses that ask the visitor to wait.
Ring Motion Warnings
With Motion Warnings, Ring wants to add an extra layer of security by providing an audible warning that lets visitors know that they are being recorded via the camera. This feature will be rolled out to all Ring wired doorbells, the Spotlight Cam Wired, Floodlight Cam and Indoor Cam. As soon as the device detects motion, the following notification will be given: Warning – you are now being monitored and recorded by Ring ‘. This message is intended to deter unwanted visitors.
Alexa is a digital assistant that can answer questions and carry out assignments for you. The assistant is comparable to Apple’s Google Assistant and Siri. Unfortunately, this smart assistant can only accept English or German voice commands, because the digital assistant is not officially available here yet. Unfortunately, it is not known how these new functions will work out in practice. The answers may only be selectable in the available languages. Regardless, hopefully Google will adopt these useful capabilities in its Nest products so that we can also greet visitors virtually with the Nest Hello or Nest cameras.
