Review of Mario Golf: Super Rush -apkrig
When one looks at Marie’s extensive portfolio of games, one might think that Nintendo is simply trying all sorts of variations to squeeze the established brand. But don’t think Mario Golf, like Mario Tennis, Mario Party or Mario Kart, is one of the long-running and successful sub-series that rightly deserves considerable attention. Making a good round of golf is also an art, but if the authors succeed, it is surprisingly grateful for video games. And the arcade Mario Golf reaffirms this assumption.
Behind the new Mario Golf: Super Rush is experienced Japanese developers from the Camelot Software Planning studio, who have been playing golf and tennis games with characters from Nintendo for over 20 years. Their confidence in this field is known at almost every step. Nevertheless, it is still trying to enrich the established formula with something new. But the basis of the game should not surprise you with anything. Although we are talking about the arcade concept and the sport situated in a fairytale country, at the core it is still traditional golf with everything. And one breath to add that really well crafted. In addition, if you want, you can adjust the rules of the game so that the title is as close as possible to classic golf on some more conservative courses.
You can also play the inverter on a split screen and the game can be fully controlled with a single Joy-Con.
Mario Golf: Super Rush excels in great gameplay and successful controls, which is the most important thing. You can choose the classic control with the help of buttons, but you will also have great fun with the motion control, which is not so precise, but will deepen the overall experience. Great for parties, multiplayer on one screen or for children who will master it very quickly. This can be said about the whole game, which is very intuitive and interwoven with various guides and hints that will introduce you to everything you need. Having already touched on multiplayer, it is worth adding that you can play on the inverter at the same time on a split screen and the game can be fully controlled with the help of a single Joy-Con. However, not all modes can be played in four players on one Switch.
When it comes to modes, we move slowly to the field itself. You can enter the game with one of the many famous characters and your own Mia. Each of Nintendo’s heroes and villains has a special punch that charges during the game. Personally, I liked the freezing bullet the most, which turns the area around the impact into an ice surface. It is useful, for example, to torment opponents directly on the green around the hole. But you can also throw other balls by explosion. You will gradually unlock the individual courses and it must be said that there could be more. From the more or less classic ones, you will eventually move to various fantastic places inspired by Maria, and various non-standard obstacles are gradually increasing on the playgrounds. The basic offer is not bad at all, but the choice will probably not amaze you.
These individual modes could make you more happy. In addition to classic golf, you can look forward to Speed Golf, Battle Golf and then story mode. Traditional golf does not need to be explained at length, but its rules can also be slightly modified. In Speed Golf, it’s about speed and between the individual strokes you run behind the ball and try to shake off your opponent. I admire how the authors managed to turn a naturally calm sport into something action-packed and frantic without betraying the original idea. Battle Golf is an even wilder variation on the previous mode, but it is not played on a classic course, but in a special arena, where it is usually a matter of getting the prescribed number of holes for yourself as quickly as possible, which are scattered all around. And you will encounter even more obstacles and interactive elements. This offer made me very happy and I liked each of the named modes and returned to it myself in multiplayer.
Paradoxically, I consider the weakest link and Achilles’ heel of the whole game to be the Golf Adventure story mode, which should be the showcase of the title. It is a kind of variation on a golf RPG, in which you create your own character, improve its skills and basically gradually master the whole sport from scratch. This is actually an extensive story tutorial, but it is unbearably good for a sports game. And if you don’t start at the beginning, after a few hours, his lessons may seem a little redundant. I do not mean to say that I do not understand what the authors have tried. I cannot condemn the basic idea, but the implementation is not good. I can’t imagine anyone having a really sincere fun with this regime, or even returning to it repeatedly.
Unfortunately, I also have to complain about the technical processing, specifically the graphics. Of course, we all understand that Switch is not the most powerful platform on the market and that the number of polygons is not the number one priority for Nintendo. But Mario Golf: Super Rush also lags behind other games on Switch, let alone those from Nintendo. Not that it’s not nice, its stylization and animation are magical, the environment is quite attractive, but the resolution and rendering distance of details gives the graphics quite a tailspin. The title lacks the kindness and smoothness typical of Nintendo. You will come across a lot of rough places, literally and literally. The resolution sometimes decreases considerably and you will sometimes have to grit your teeth, especially when playing on a split screen.
Nevertheless, the new Mario Golf remains a very successful game and its pros clearly outweigh the cons. However, since it is sold at full price, it is not possible to excuse its shortcomings. But if you judge for yourself that this is nothing that should stop you, you will quite probably spend more time here than in better-rated titles and you will return to the game regularly for several years.
