Resident Evil Village breaks records, except for home Japan -apkrig

Resident Evil Village’s first sales statistics indicated that the current installment was among the best-selling in the series with more than 3 million units shipped in the first four days. Capcom boasted of the results in a press release and brought an interesting context – the remake of the third part had 2 million units sold in the first five days, the previous remake of the second part was about the same as Village and the only more successful game in the popular series was the sixth episode, which reached 4.5 million players in just two days. Although it is not an absolute record from a general point of view – Monster Hunter: World, for example, it was even better – it was a confirmation that even with the change of environment, atmosphere and level of fear, Village was able to attract and will certainly not be a failure. From a different perspective, however, we could use a similar word by focusing on sales in domestic Japan, and even closer, by removing digital copies.

Yes, it is definitely worth emphasizing that we are not trying to have any fantastic news. Just how much conditions it is necessary to be reflected in the results, it speaks for itself, yet it is interesting to observe such a clearly expressed change in the global trend and the deviation from the purchase of physical copies. The statistics are reported by Famitsu magazine, which combines the sales results of the PS4 and PS5 versions, which together amount to only 149,884 units in the first week in Japan. Just for comparison, in the same period of time, the previous part sold over 230,000 and the only two parts that experienced worse results are the first and fourth. The original game sold 148,904 copies in Japan, and three thousand fewer for the fourth installment. However, it is necessary to take into account the time in which the series started, respectively. the fact that Resident Evil 4 was released exclusively for the GameCube, which was not exactly the most widespread console in 2005.

Nevertheless, there is no room for unnecessary panic, especially with regard to the current world situation. For example, according to Video Games Chronicle magazine, players are less willing to go to stone shops for physical copies of games during a pandemic, and they resort to digital versions much more than a year ago. In addition, it is not known how many such pieces of Resident Evil Village have been sold in Japan, and given the global figures, the situation at Capcom’s home soil need not be a concern. It should be added that, for example, in Great Britain, the Village went on sale in box – it was the second strongest start of this year’s game in the physical version – and also at Steam, a record number of concurrent players met.
