Replacing iPhone battery is getting more expensive
Apple has announced that battery service prices will be increased. For a new battery with an iPhone 6, 7, 8 and SE, you currently have to pay at least 55 euros. With an iPhone X or newer, a battery even costs 75 euros, but these prices will soon go up considerably.
That’s how expensive a new iPhone battery is
Apple announced on its own site that the costs for a new battery will increase as of March 1, 2023. From March 1, you will pay 79 euros for a new battery of an iPhone SE, iPhone 8 or older model. With an iPhone X or newer, you can pay 99 euros for a new battery from 1 March. So you spend 24 euros more for a replacement battery.

The current prices are valid until the end of February. So if you were already planning to have a new battery put in your iPhone, don’t wait too long. You can have your battery replaced at an Apple Store or send it to Apple itself. Of course it is also possible to have your battery replaced at an authorized Apple service provider.
Battery in need of replacement? Check your warranty carefully
Is the battery of your battery deteriorating faster than hoped? The price increase only applies to iPhones that are out of warranty. When you buy a new iPhone, you have a one-year warranty with Apple.
If you have to have your iPhone’s battery replaced within one year, it falls within this warranty period. Do you have an iPhone with a battery that became defective very quickly? Don’t forget to check your warranty period first. If your iPhone falls outside this warranty period, Apple will also replace the battery free of charge if you have AppleCare+.

Do you want to know if your iPhone needs a new battery? You can easily check this in the settings:
- Go to Settings’;
- Choose ‘Battery’;
- Tap on ‘Battery health and charging’;
- View the maximum capacity of your battery.
In this overview you can see the battery capacity of your phone. The lower this percentage, the worse the condition of the battery in your iPhone. If this percentage is 80 percent or lower, it is advisable to purchase a new battery. In that case, it is noticeable that your iPhone battery has deteriorated.
