Remedy connects with Tencent through the Vanguard -apkrig action

Although the developers from the Remedy studio stole part of this year’s The Game Awards, thanks to the announcement of the second part of the Alan Wake thriller, we should not forget their other projects either. Leaving aside the story mode of the Crossfire shooter and speculation about the development of Control 2, a cooperative PvE event codenamed Vanguard was unveiled at the end of June. According to half-year-old information, the game will be released by 505 Games, but we are learning that it is not worldwide. According to the newly concluded partnership, the Chinese giant Tencent will be in charge of the release in Asia, which will also take care of the development of the mobile version.

However, the press release, the main information of which we mention in the introduction, also brings a few details that may not have been entirely clear in connection with Vanguard. First of all, it should be noted that this will be a free, play-based model that should be the first in the history of Remedy. as a service. The Finnish studio anticipates that the spin-off of Control, on which the newly built team within the company is working, will be proof that the portfolio of developers can grow in various directions and suitably complement the entire interconnected universe of individual titles and Remedy Connected Universe series. As mentioned above, Vanguard will be a PvE event involving up to four players, presumably in the fight against paranormal entities. “Vanguard represents Remedy’s first entry into the game-as-a-service business model by our top team of experts in free to play titles,” the studio said in a press release, promising that the game would not lag behind other Remedy titles.

Not only does the information about the use of the Unreal Engine – most likely its latest generation – confirm this, but also the amount of the budget, according to the press release, corresponding to all other AAA games from Remedy. “This development will be co-financed by REmedy and Tencent,” the developers say, adding that the Chinese company will take care of localization for selected Asian markets and cover the costs of its implementation. “Both companies will be responsible for their own costs of publishing and operating in their regions, sharing part of the other party’s revenues after development costs, ”adds Remedy. As a bonus, Tencent will take care of the development of the mobile version, which will run separately and it is not yet clear whether the game will be available worldwide or only in Asia. But whatever happens, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala is convinced that the partnership is a huge opportunity for both parties and will help the studio to expand internationally and in the mobile gaming segment. The two companies have already prepared for this move in May of this year, when Tencent bought less than 4 percent of Remedy through 500,000 shares. At that time, no word was said about any game, but it is obvious that everything was only a matter of time.
