Register an electric car: These are the costs

As with all trips to the office, you should not forget your wallet at home. Registration is not very cheap: an e-plate costs around 50 to 60 euros. This includes both the registration fee and the cost of the number plates. If you have a specific number plate in mind, the extra request will cost you an additional 12 euros. However, these are only guideline values, as the costs are not set uniformly at the federal level. Other factors that can vary the price include: Does a used car change registration zones or is the car brand new? Does the owner of the vehicle change?

With desired number plate and the reservation of it come like that around 75 Euro towards you.

Registering an e-car: necessary documents

To register your new electric vehicle, you basically need the same documents as for a combustion engine: Vehicle registration and vehicle registration documenti.e. registration certificate part 1 and 2, yours identity card as well as one Proof of passing the main inspection (e.g. from TÜV) and one proof of insurance (e.g. from ARAG). The electronic confirmation of insurance consists of a seven-digit alphanumeric code that you will receive after taking out liability insurance.

However, the situation is different if your new electric car qualifies for an e-license plate. You may need an additional one for this Proof of compliance with the requirements of the EmoG. Also one Green EPA Sticker must be available, even if this is usually always the case with e-cars. This is because the “E” on the license plate does not automatically allow entry into an environmental zone.
