Receive and redeem recipes via app: App starts in July
The electronic recipes are about to start. Insured persons should be able to receive, save and redeem prescriptions with an app.
The app for electronic recipes will start in Germany in July. As reported by Gematik, the app will be released nationwide on July 1st in the app stores of Google, Apple and Huawei.
Within the first four weeks, only insured persons in the Berlin-Brandenburg region can use the app in pharmacies. The application is to start nationwide in the fourth quarter.
Contents
Receive, save and redeem recipes
Users with statutory health insurance can use the app to receive e-prescriptions from their doctor. In addition, information on the intake and dosage is displayed.
To redeem the prescription in a pharmacy, the doctor’s practice can either send it there directly, or the insured person can show the prescription code from the app.
Registration via electronic health card
An NFC-capable smartphone with at least iOS 14 or Android 6 is required to redeem the recipes. In order to log into the app, insured persons also need an electronic health card and the associated PIN.
If you want to use the app without registering, you can scan the prescription codes from the analog prescription, save them digitally and show them at the pharmacy.
Further features in planning
In the long term, the app should have additional features. It is planned to be able to request prescriptions from pharmacies, to register with several health cards and to improve the search for pharmacies.
A beta test is planned before the official launch of the app. Registration information for those interested should follow.
