Qualcomm announces new processor Snapdragon 782G
It is the successor to the 778G+: Snapdragon announces the new processor Snapdragon 782G. It can support a 200 megapixel camera and comes with more improvements.
Snapdragon 782G
Qualcomm recently announced its new showpiece, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, it also has a line for less high-end phones and within that line, the 782G has now been unveiled. It is the successor to the processor that can be found in the Nothing Phone (1), for example.
The 782G has an 8-core CPU, including an ARM Cortex-A78 core running at 2.7GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.9GHz. The chip is said to be a 5 percent improvement in CPU (compared to the 778G+) thanks to TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process and the Adreno 642L GPU. The GPU goes a step further: it is said to be 10 percent better in terms of performance.
Among the highlights is support for 200 megapixel camera sensors and 10-bit color depth and 4K HDR video recording at 30 FPS and up to 240 FPS (slow motion) at 720 pixels. Thanks to the support of Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, it is also easy to power the tech.

The new chip supports up to 16GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and is made for WiFi 6E, mmWave and sub6 5G, among others. In terms of audio, you can expect the chip to work with Qualcomm aptX and support Bluetooth v5.2. He can play videos at HDR10 + quality plus HDR gaming with 10-bit colors.
Maybe all these specifications don’t tell you everything and that’s okay. The conclusion that you can draw from it is important: it means that this somewhat cheaper chip is made available to phone makers who will then put it in less high-end phones. In other words: this chip ensures that cheaper phones can still have top specifications, which we previously mainly saw in more expensive devices.
