Proven: corona pandemic had a major effect on young parents

For example, 49 percent of mothers have experienced the past few years (no childcare, no school and plenty of working from home) as ‘stressful’. Pregnant women were also more stressed: 9 in 10 were afraid of being infected.

Outings with the family

No fewer than 84 percent of mothers say they have missed something in the past two years: from family outings and festivals to sports, traveling and meeting outdoors. Physical contact and cuddling are also frequently mentioned in the research. 6 in 10 working mothers have struggled with balancing attention to the children and the growing list of to-do’s.

Despite this split, 67 percent of the care tasks still fell on mothers during the corona pandemic. The children also took the children four times more often than their partner from school after a phone call about snot bubbles.

More time

Yet this exceptional time also brought much valuable. For example, more than half of the mothers indicate that they have been able to spend more time with their children since the pandemic. And, also nice: less stress in traffic jams to get to the office on time was also very good. For 9 out of 10 mothers who work at home, this may well remain the case.
