Problems with the delivery of USB-C adapter for Apple Pencil

If you have an iPad 2022 and you want to buy an Apple Pencil (with adapter), you’re out of luck at the moment. The Apple Pencil 1 with USB-C adapter is currently not available.

Have you just bought an iPad 2022 and now you also want an Apple Pencil? Then you have to wait. If you want to buy a first-generation Apple Pencil from Apple right now, you have to be patient for more than a week.

These problems are not only in the Netherlands. Also in America, some Apple Stores have not yet received the new packaging of the Apple Pencil 1 with USB-C adapter. There have even been spotted waiting times of up to a month.

Apple also cannot continue to sell the old stock of the first-generation Apple Pencil, because it does not include the USB-C adapter. Someone with an iPad 2022 will then not be able to pair (or charge) the Apple Pencil.

To use the Apple Pencil 1 on the iPad 2022, you need a special USB-C adapter. This is because the Apple Pencil 1 has a Lightning connector. To connect (and charge) the Pencil to the previous iPad, you had to plug it into the iPad’s Lightning port.

The iPad 2022 (€ 589) has a USB-c port. That is why Apple supplies a special type of adapter with the Apple Pencil 1. You still have to use a USB-c cable to connect the Pencil to your iPad (or to a charging block).

If you already have a first-generation Apple Pencil, you can also buy the USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter separately for 10 euros. Unfortunately, you also have to be patient for that. The adapter currently also has a waiting time of more than a week at Apple.
