Faced with the grudge of players vis-à-vis Pokémon Go, Niantic Labs has just spoken. The developer of the mobile game announces that it has taken into account the requests of its community following the deconfinement.
During containment in several countries, the American company had established an interaction distance of 80 meters between players and event points. This decision was beneficial for Pokémon Go, which was able to continue to live without worrying about measures against Covid-19. In recent weeks, seeing the situation slowly returning to normal, Niantic decided to revert to a 40 interaction before backing down. In a press release available on its site, the company returned to this imbroglio.
Pokémon Go is organizing Safari Zone at the end of the year
Niantic has just announced the holding of Zone Safari events. On its site, the publisher gives more details on the three dates initially planned for 2020 but which had to be postponed.
- In Liverpool, England, at Sefton Park, October 15-17, 2021
- In Philadelphia, in the United States, at Fairmount Park, from October 29 to 31, 2021
- In Saint-Louis, in the United States, in Tower Grove Park, from November 12 to 14, 2021
People who have already purchased a ticket for the event in 2020 but cannot attend will still be able to participate. Those who bought an Urban Explorer Pass will be able to get a refund. Niantic also recalls that the players, despite the return of physical events, it will be necessary to follow the health guidelines. The developer also wanted to get closer to his community.
Niantic wants to communicate better with his players
The publisher had already announced earlier to restore the interaction distance of 80 meters. Yesterday, Niantic returned to this incident in a message to his community. Following this episode, the spokespersons of the company had an interview with 30 people representing the Pokémon Go community. Two elements emerged from this conversation:
- The distance of 80 meters was a big improvement in the playing comfort of the trainers
- Niantic must progress on communication with its players
As a result, the 80 meters will remain permanently on all places of the globe. This applies to both PokéStops and Arenas. However, Niantic is looking to develop ideas for introducing players to interesting places as well as discovering the outside world. The teams are therefore working on new projects in this direction.
Also from October, a newsletter for the community will be published by Niantic. Every two months, the developer will focus on detailing all the new features within Pokémon Go as well as the mobile game project.
