Players are fighting desperately against the MMO plague
Amazon’s MMO New World has a complex crafting system combined with an economy that is almost entirely owned by the community. A common plague of the genre are bots and they are particularly harmful to a game like New World.

New World: Community defends itself against bots
Sooner or later they’ll attack every MMO like grasshoppers: bots. You can find them in New World (since release) Characters who farm resources for hours and are not particularly persistent players. Particularly noticeable are the fishing bots that are everywhere on the water and cast their rod for hours. These bots are now all level 20, 30 and even higher, which means they have been doing their job for a long time.
The bots are currently celebrating a big comeback and in Reddit many players report about bot that are active for days and reporting doesn’t seem to help. (Source: Reddit). While bots are a nuisance in any MMO, they are destroying the economy in New World. The only way to monetize collected resources or manufactured items is to trade them directly or to sell them via the trading post (auction house). Of course, players who collect their resources fairly cannot keep up with the speed of the bots. As a result, prices plummet and the crafting system is hardly worth it.
Bots in New World: A Fight Against Windmills
Whether on Reddit, on Twitter or in the official forum, the community not only complains about the bot activities themselves, but also about the uselessness of the report function. For most of the complaints, Amazon Games only refers to that function, since the bots are found at a very high level, which does absolutely nothing, the players agree on that. So the community is facing a problem that isn’t significantly influenced the game negatively, but also from their point of view ignored by Amazon Games. To proclaim the end of New World is of course far too early, but the developer should address the problem as soon as possible and communicate it.
