Plantigo, a sustainable Marketplace for plants
A monstera, a pancake: these are plants from which you can keep taking cuttings. However, if your friends don’t like it anymore, all that green in the house, you can move to Plantigo. In this edition of App of the Week we discuss this Marketplace for your urban jungle.
Plantigo
Do you have green fingers, but can you no longer see your house because of all the greenery? No problem, you can make other people happy with plants via Plantigo. In this app you choose whether you offer a plant for free, want to exchange it or put it up for sale, with or without a pot. The nice thing is that as a plant fan you can also scroll to see where all plants are offered. The app is used frequently, so you can often find someone nearby to go for a new plant.
Plantigo also includes a list of Plant shelters. For example, you can go to Alkmaar to adopt or donate a plant. You will just have a cactus that your just walking child walks dangerously close to every time, or have a bonsai that you don’t know what to do with. You can get rid of them by taking them to a plant shelter. On a handy map you can see both where plants are offered by private individuals and where you can find plants at such a shelter.
Green fingers
The app has a nice design with green and white, combined with a modern look. It immediately stimulates you to want to sell and buy plants. Who knows, you might meet someone with whom you can exchange plants more often. If you would rather learn more about certain plants or search for specific plants, you can also use the plant encyclopedia or use the extensive search function.
Swapping plants is a very good idea and we especially applaud this app. There is no whining about money, this way you can easily get a new plant from a private individual and it is also sustainable. Much more sustainable than, for example, buying yourself a bunch of flowers every week. Good idea, that Plantigo, and it works well too.
